● The digiDirect Group continues rapid expansion following recent acquisitions of other market-leading entities including online bookstore, Booktopia and library supplier, James Bennett.
● This acquisition will complement operation of consumer electronics retailer, digiDirect, the founding brand of The digiDirect Group.

Australia, 17 June 2025: The digiDirect Group has today announced the acquisition of one of Australia’s leading online technology retailers, with Mwave joining its expanding portfolio of retail businesses, including Booktopia and digiDirect. The new deal comes hot on the heels of the acquisition of Australia’s leading library supplier, James Bennett in May and online bookstore, Booktopia, in August 2024. All three businesses join consumer electronics retailer, digiDirect, within the group of companies.
Mwave has been at the forefront of the consumer technology landscape since its inception in 2006, cementing its position as a leader in the category. It is best known for its large range of PC and gaming hardware and accessories, including PC builds, which has propelled the brand to the heart of the large and increasingly lucrative gaming community.
The company, which employs around 100 staff, will eventually move its operations from its current headquarters in Lidcombe in Western Sydney to The digiDirect Group’s headquarters in South Strathfield, where it will benefit from the state-of-the-art robotics and automation-equipped customer fulfilment centre.
The Mwave product range will bolster the offering currently provided by digiDirect and will unlock synergies across the teams’ merchandising and marketing teams, while providing greater opportunities for both suppliers and customers.
Shant Kradjian, Chairman and CEO at The digiDirect Group, said: “Mwave has been a company we have long admired and felt would provide a natural complement to our businesses. The business has been a pioneer in the technology space and enables us to drive scale in a fast-growing category, borne from consumer demand, fuelled by the continued growth of the gaming community.”
“We believe we will provide a great home for the Mwave business, especially considering the infrastructure we have in our Group, most notably in our advanced Customer Fulfilment Centre, and the collective expertise among our personnel across multiple departments. We see significant potential taking Mwave from strength to strength.”
While The digiDirect Group has purchased the Mwave business and assets to ensure its continuity, the shares of former holding company, Esel Pty Ltd, entered into voluntary administration under DVT Group following a difficult period following the COVID-19 pandemic.
All Mwave staff have been offered the opportunity to continue with the business, joining more than 400 staff already employed by The digiDirect Group.
The digiDirect Group is also committed to fulfilling all unfulfilled orders and gift cards purchased by Mwave customers.
